where we are now

this mornin' i was prayin' for some friends who live in other countries and some friends who wish they were in other countries... and for this later group the following hit me as i prayed... its not about getting somewhere or garnering enough support to go or where we are going... the kingdom travelin' is about where we are now and what we are doing with that...

i have so often in my life looked elsewhere with great longing... and in that i have lost the joy in where i was then... we are, right now, where we are, in a place where we can have joy... because He is here... and He is all we need for joy and gladness...

it ain't about what we do; it is about who we are in Him... we have it backwards... first it's Him in us, then we do...
moment by moment...
day by day...
until we see Him

"Because you have been faithful in very little..." Luke 19.17

Thanks for this Tom. As an "N" I tend to live in the future and in dreams and ideas. But real life and real living is in the here and now. Right where I am. I think God is teaching me more and more to be present (especially with my kids). "Time keeps on tickin', tickin', tickin'...into the future" (name the band?). Anyways...I think about our three little boys and how much bigger they are now than they were one year ago. This really reinforces the need for "right where you are" living.

well Mark... as a fellow N I know exactly what you are talkin about... I think that clearly Nouwen's book has me thinking better... have you read my post about finishing that book?... about the boys... with my girls gone, i look back and am amazed at how fast it went... keep up with the now... the later will be past before you know it!
